Progress Updates
All of the necessary permits are in place and construction is underway in the form of land clearing.
Approximately 80 acres of forested land had to be cleared to make room for the North Track, a task that started on May 21 and was completed, except for some stump grinding, on June 14. Progress was very quick and the ability to see the natural contours of the land has been a great benefit to the detailed design effort.
The centerline of the North Track has been staked out, including elevation profile information, to enable the track's design to be fine-tuned to the natural setting. This fine tuning task was carried out by Alan Wilson, the Track's Chief Designer, together with members of the Gray-Warnick Engineering team, on June 13th.
The Official Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on June 16th. In spite of rainy weather, a very nice crowd attended.
