Pittsburgh Passion Players Blitz BeaveRun
Wampum,
PA
June 22, 2008
- BeaveRun MotorSports Complex recently hosted several members of one
of this year’s most successful Pittsburgh sports franchises - the
Pittsburgh Passion. The Passion competes in the Independent Women's Football
League, playing their home games at Cupples Stadium formerly known as South
Stadium in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
Passion team
members took a short break from their successful run at an undefeated
season, visiting the Complex and taking part in one of the premier programs
at the track, the Pro Formula Experience!
Quarterback
Lisa Horton, Wide Receiver Jennifer Moody and team owner/coach Teresa Conn
took turns behind the wheel of several of BeaveRun’s school and race cars,
lapping the 1.6 mile North Course under the tutelage of BeaveRun Instructors
as well as members of Trafford, PA’s John Walko Racing.
Team owner John
Walko was impressed with the players as they quickly adapted to the program.
“There is
little doubt that these are serious athletes. You could see the competitive
nature required to play professional football come out as soon as they
strapped in to the cars. They were up to speed in a hurry and up to any
challenge we put in front of them. It was a great experience for everyone
and really was a continuation of our Star Mazda program in a way as two of
our three professional drivers are women along with one of our engineers,
Kate Gundlach.”
Conn, Owner and
CEO of the Passion, was thrilled with the opportunity.
“The Passion
players had an absolute blast with the Formula Car Experience! After
playing full contact professional football in front of thousands of fans,
sometimes it is difficult to find activities that still give that incredible
adrenaline rush, however, after the Formula experience, football may seem a
little slow tonight."
The successful
combination of two of Pittsburgh’s newest and most unique sports properties
is something that BeaveRun’s Tim Silbaugh hopes to see more of in the
future.
“It was a great
experience working with everyone from the Passion. They are great athletes
obviously as their record on the field shows but displaying the ability to
adapt to the mental and physical demands of being behind the wheel of a race
car at speed showed how versatile they are as well. Their enthusiasm and
competitive nature are infectious and we hope to work more with the team in
the future. BeaveRun would also like to extend our best wishes to the team
as they begin their playoff run this coming weekend.”
