The Cannonball One Lap of America School & Dinner at BeaveRun - April 5th & 6th!

The weekend is open to all performance driving enthusiasts and racers as well as the One Lap competitors. Come out and dust off the cobwebs after the long winter and rub shoulders with those who have raced at the highest levels of motorsports competition over the last thirty years. Key events of the weekend are:
  • One Lap of America Driving School  - April 5th at 8:00                     BeaveRun will assemble a remarkable group of professional racers who will be instructing at this school once again. Previous instructors have included the very accomplished Le Mans and Grand Am racer Chris Gleason, Grand Am Cup racer Dennis Baglier, the ever-colorful Le Mans and Aston Martin factory racer Jack Miller and professional race coach John Walko, of 2006 Star Mazda Team Champions John Walko Racing,  who has managed racers such as Graham Rahal, Guy Cosmo and brothers Robbie & Adam Pecorari. Those who complete this school will have earned the right to compete in the annual Cannonball One Lap of America event.
  • One Lap of America Driving School Dinner - April 5th at 6:00 PM        The Saturday evening dinner and Cocktail Hour tradition continues in 2008 at the BeaveRun Event Center.  Cocktail Hour, complete with appetizers, kicks off at 6:00 followed by a catered dinner and an entertaining cadre of speakers. This is the perfect opportunity to meet One Lap participants and share stories about some of the greatest legends in racing.   Like fishing stories,  the truth may get stretched a bit... but this only adds to the enjoyment of the evening. Dinner, by the way, is open to all motorsports enthusiasts, spouses and guests who wish to purchase a separate dinner ticket, but Saturday's school participants receive a dinner ticket with their registration.

  • One Lap of America Driving School - Day Two - April 6th at 9:00      A day of driving and classroom sessions begins at 9:00 AM on Sunday.  Like the school on Saturday, this day is open to One Lap drivers as well as the aspiring performance driver.  The day will be run along the same format as BeaveRun's Flat Out Days but with additional classroom sessions for drivers who desire it.

About the Cannonball One Lap of America

One Lap of America: a motorsports event accessible to the average Joe, where the finest meals available are at gas station convenience stores, personal hygiene takes a holiday and friendships (sometimes marriages) are stretched to the limits.

Brock Yates, the father of the original Cannonball, created the current format: Nearly 24 hours a day driving with competition taking place as time trials on race tracks throughout the country.  The event, as it always has been, is foremost one of endurance and vehicle preparation. The vehicles and their drivers must survive over 5000 miles of driving interspersed with battle fatigue, weather, traffic and the demands of high-speed competition. For more information  visit the One Lap of America web site at www.onelapofamerica.com.  All events are open to the public.
